After breaking our New Year's resolutions at a tiki bar deep in the woods, Numbolic's very 1st release in 2012 is a production by our lovely french friend Kane Roth. With an elegant drift Kane made four outstanding kicking minimal tracks while creating her typically sort of breeziness. She delicately placed all the charming arrangements very well in order to sound super authentically rooted. Dance Baby, dance! D. Diggler's interpretation on the A Side retains much of the vibes from the original track 'Beatbox'. His remix is heavy steady-footed and you surely will find trendy going-ons and pulsing statements as well. On the Flip Side version of 'Sidewalk Morning' Dualism made some smooth and seductive sound manipulations. Deep and subtle as usual, their interpretation expresses thrilling beat-driven emotions and contains a snapshot of low- beat-techno in motion. DisplayFM extended the release with a pristine re-work of 'A Sound Stuck in my Head'. A loved-up warming remix that conveniently aligned its output. Kane came along way baby, so instead of waiting for the bogeyman, get yourself a drink, eat a Hawaii Toast and start swinging the swing while listening Kane's Debut EP on Numbolic Records. |

Parquet Recordings look to kick start 2012 in full throttle. As they look to the future, they also have one eye on the past as they revisit one of their most successful releases to date, Gui Boratto's 2006 smash "Paralelo," and deliver three fresh new reworks on what will be the label's 40th Vinyl release. Leading from the front is none other than Parquet label chief, SOLEE. Coming off the back of a successful 2011 which has seen him remix artists including Nick Warren, Cafe Negro, Slideshow Park and Tom Novy. Paying tribute to the emotional original, SOLEE bathes us in layers of warm synths and spine-tingling percussion. Next up is one of 2011's brightest stars, Der Turnbeutel label chief OLIVER SCHORIES. His emotive and powerful productions have seen release on the likes of Darkroom Dubs, Ostwind, Voltage Musique and of course Parquet. As the so-called independent, underground club music scene continues to self-police with market trends, unconsciously mimicking the mainstream music industry's demise, we try our best to ignore these unwritten rules and to take risks with unexpected output. In the T-Bet tradition, our latest 12" brings the first collaborative release from two established artists: Gabriele Carasco and Angelina Yershova, who offer the intricate, slowly unfolding Beyond Colors EP. Italian born, Zurich-based DJ/producer Carasco has already released a handful of solo EPs, most recently on Andre Crom's OFF Recordings. Meanwhile, Kazakhstani-born, Rome-based Yershova has a more academic background, having brought her experimental performances to festivals throughout Europe and North America. Does this mean suede elbow patches will become the new club fashion trend for 2012? We do hope this EP paves the way for more reflective moments on the dancefloor… Aside from the skittering electronic backbone in the background, "Beyond Colors" is crafted almost entirely upon acoustic sounds: upright bass, violin and piano, intermittently accented by abstract vocal sounds. Even the jazzy drum kit that enters later suggests that we are hearing a live session unfurl, but the timing and placement of each subtle change indicates studio precision. On the reverse side, "Overlapping Hands" works with a similar variety of sounds but with more emphasis on the beats, shifting and gently breaking and resynchronizing, while at the same time, sparse piano notes repeat at different intervals, showing a Steve Reich influence. Finally,Signor Andreoni (who co-runs our label along with Acirne and Cherry Baker) revamps this track with even more focus on the electronic pulse, crescendoing with the most club-friendly moments on the EP. |

The Deepness enterprise continues: Cologne artist ZIGGY KINDER is renowned for his distinct and crystal clear minimal funk, but already in 2007 he created his own personal parallel house universe with "Que Pasa Maria" on Souvenir Records. Since then he has systematically worked his way into the soul of his machines and cut back on speed and actions. First highlight of this development was his slowmo slapbass slammer "Assbomb", though his second new album "Barboom" takes deepness and moodiness considerably further. Instead of satisfying mainstream tastes trying to attract attention with common sounds and samples, Kinder returns to a wholesome "less is more" without being pigeonholed as purely minimal. He confidently leans back for he has found his perfect spot: "Barboom" is cool house, club, party, outside-the-box while being a comfy-groovy home in the swirl of triviality. The album will be available on CD, as a download and a four-track vinyl EP. Also watch out online for two snazzy videos: in his clip for "Meteoroid" a meteorite uses its magic forces to seduce a Cologne Carnival group into surreal midnight dancing. The super cool "Barboom" video features a liquid erotic dance cocktail of water and ink, which was not computer-animated but completely filmed and edited! |
